Book Reviews for June 2018 - Bound, My Trip to Adele, and Bound

The following are book reviews for the books I have read in June. Some of the reviews will have a link to the original post.

The first book I read and reviewed is Bound: Wicked Dark Boston Thrillers Series, Book 1 by Michael Campbell.

Bound by Michael Campbell is a book about a deal Jacqueline’s late husband, Michael and Jimmy made with Aidan of the IRA. Jacqueline didn’t know anything about the deal, so she thought Jimmy was trying to swindle her. She finds out the truth from her godfather, Sal later in the book.

Jimmy, thinking Jacqueline will not pay him, plots to kidnap Tom. He finds out that he has two ways of getting paid by kidnapping Tom. The first through Jacqueline and the second through Tom’s girlfriend Kate, whose father is wealthy. continue reading

My Trip to Adele by R. I. Alyaseer and A. I. Alyaseer was the second book I read and reviewed.

My Trip To Adele by R. I. Alyaseer and A. I. Alyaseer is the lives of six people planning to go to an Adele concert. They come from different locations around the world and each has meaningful reasons for going. Elias, from Rome, Italy, wants to keep a promise to Malika, from Marrakesh, Morocco, the girl he loved eight years ago. Yaser and his wife, Mariam from Las Vegas, USA, who after eight years of marriage are trying to rekindle the love they once had. Nadia, from Amman, Jordan, has made plans to take her son, Waleed to the concert as a birthday present. continue reading

Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon was the last book I read in June.

Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon begins with friends, Tom, William, and Myra, packing for a hiking trip to make sure the grave of Tom’s grandfather, Bob-Bob, is secure before Buckhorn starts mining for erbium in the Olympic National Forest. There are several loud knocks on the door and when Tom opens it, he meets his granddaughter for the first time. Tom suspects Sarah, age 13 will be trouble. The fact that she doesn’t like where he lives, nor his cooking was his first clue. A debate among the friends to postpone the trip or take Sarah with them resulted in permitting her to join them. Sarah annoyed with their decision complains about camping out and carrying a pack. Thinking the trip would be more interesting for Sarah, Myra tells her “the Olympic Peninsula is a land of magic, history, and legend.” Tom is teasing Sarah about a bear she believed she saw and she becomes angry with him and rushes off. Myra goes in search of her, but she has disappeared. Sarah is missing for eight days and returns to camp with cuts and scratches on her and covered in mud she tells a story of what she saw and experienced while trapped in a hole under a broken rock.

The author gives incredible detail about the characters which caused them to come to life. Descriptions of the canoe on the ocean and being hit by waves were exhilarating, and when hiking the trails in the forest the reader feels the hiker’s exhaustion. The reader can escape into the world of Strong Heart, the people in a canoe, and their adventures. The storyline was captivating from beginning to end.
